Vintage blueberries

This is a very quick post which I may add to later. I have just found a beautiful charity shop in Skipton called Birdcage Vintage, which can be found at the top of the High Street next to the quirky and great to eat at Russian Tearooms. The funny thing is Birdcage Vintage just does not look like a charity shop. There are some amazing women behind the design of the shop which presents itself as a chic antique shop selling lovely clothes, plates, material and bric-a-brac.

One particularly interesting item I found was the handwritten notes of a medical student who studied in the 1930's. The copperplate handwriting and anatomical drawings are eye catching and delightful I think he will have turned out to be a very thorough doctor.

Apart from that I bought a set of these plates which I really like. The blue is unusual and the design is classically pretty. I have just taken a few shots of the plates which I am sure you will see in other posts. I just liked the combination of blues.

The charity behind Birdcage Vintage is called Behind Closed Doors and raises money to help women suffering from domestic abuse in more rural communities. The charity has a number of gifted volunteers who up-cycle and re-use clothes, fabrics and household goods to appeal to a modern market of vintage shoppers and the revival of interest in making do and mend craft projects. They also run craft courses to show people how to make the best of their charity shop finds.

Birdcage Vintage can be found at 12 High Street Skipton, North Yorkshire, BD23 1JZ
